I am not going to write you a long blog post here. I am not going to reheat things you already know and serve them back to you. Some things in SEO changed as we went into 2024, and I want us to go through that shift in the algorithm together.
Further down we also asked Gemini, without flinching, “what will change in SEO in the future”. The result is an assessment piece packed with usable information. I hope you enjoy reading it.
First off, you know that the roots of Türk SEM’s SEO strategy come out of a mixture of these 3 foundations:
- The Gestalt approach (we will cover this one later too)
- The Pareto principle
- Latent SEO
Anyone who has followed our earlier articles knows that at the heart of all 3 systems sits the question of how much people get out of them. With SEO changing in 2024, I have to say our own algorithm structure is producing better results.
The Big Change in SEO, and the Moral of the Story
You know the ones who go back to the ancient origins of a subject just to keep you on the page longer. The kind who, in a news story about exam results, start explaining the history of the exam. That is exactly the sort of padded page whose time is up. As long as your site is not exposed to pogo sticking, the sites that get the content to the user fastest will sit higher up.
The most important parameter is now this;
- No pogo sticking
- Your site serves the content people were looking for
- Whoever serves it fastest wins
- People come back
The truth is Google had been applying this for a long time. But; it felt the need to spell it out, because; they want a better internet. Think of it this way; if every site in the world took one more second of a visitor’s time, a billion seconds of internet usage would disappear. That drop certainly weighs negatively on Google’s total revenue. So my read is that Google worked out it is more profitable when people finish their business with a site quickly and go on to visit more of them.
Page Values and Site Values
Google builds general values for every page and for every site. There are values it produces for each page separately, and then there is the site’s overall value. Google does not tear a page loose from the site’s overall value and judge it on its own. Sometimes I have trouble understanding why it does not. Perhaps in time it will build a separate valuation for every page.
Going into 2024, I came away with the impression that site value has gained a little more weight against page value. And I am sure the reason for that is trustworthy content.
Voice Search Optimization
Did you know that 54% of homes in the UK have a smart speaker? Google now takes a mountain of spoken questions and answers them. To raise site value in SEO and reach larger audiences, we have to optimize our content for voice. We may write something detailed on this later on.
It Knows the Answer
When a question reaches Google, it knows what sort of content the person is after. It leans toward serving the content that best fits that shape. So what should we be doing when we optimize ours? Simple. Gemini is like a door that opens onto Google’s brain.
I did not flinch, I put the question straight to Gemini.

Gemini is the one technology that can genuinely give you ideas here. ChatGPT does not have the kind of specific feed that Gemini has for an SEO specialist looking for ideas. Gemini, after all, may well be feeding on Google’s own data.
