I thought we should share a subject that is not in the literature yet. To begin with, you have probably heard the term “latent SEO” for the first time. Latent SEO is the term we use for the important SEO methods that are unknown yet visible, and that carry real contributions to SEO. It is generally one of the results project managers find by trial and error. How it is used, and which sites latent SEO work suits best, we will cover together.
Latent SEO rests on the theory of latent learning.
Latent SEO has to do with the click-through rates in the search results on Google. It holds elements of both “on-site SEO” and “off-site SEO” inside it. For that reason it can be described as a 3rd area where SEO work can be done.
Doing SEO Without Doing SEO: Giving People What They Are Looking For
As anyone who has followed our articles before will know, we have said that in SEO, on-site SEO makes up 60% of successful SEO work. I wanted to underline once again just how much on-site SEO matters on this subject.
What Is the Difference with Latent Semantic Indexing?
This method works on the words of the 1st degree that sit beside a word, and lifts the main word through them. It also goes by the name latent semantic SEO. Very few SEO specialists know this method, and it generally gives fine results.
What we are talking about in the latent SEO method, though, is the situations inside the site, and the situations where the site partly affects off-site SEO. One of the points that matters for SEO is your click-through rate on Google. So if you have entered the list from 10th place and your click-through rate in 10th place is higher than the site in 9th, or even the site in 8th, you will probably end up inside the first 5. This is also one of the good examples of why the subpages of large brands get listed at the front.

So how should we apply a “latent SEO method” with our unknown brand, so that our click-through rate on Google rises and we get a natural lift in the rankings? The basic element here runs through the power of the idea of the “title”.
To give an example of how it is used:
When we run a search for “kredi başvurusu”, meaning loan application, dozens of banks operating in Türkiye come up. Among those banks, Akbank sat in 10th place in the search results at the time of writing. Looking at the page title, we see “Kredi Başvurusu Akbank | Hemen Kredi Başvuru”, that is “Loan Application Akbank | Apply for a Loan Now”. By the latent SEO method the title here is sensible, but in latent SEO terms it unfortunately leaves us with an average click-through rate, and improving the ranking means working on the other parameters.
If the same page on Akbank.com had chosen a title along the lines of We Bring Your Loan Money to You, Akbank Loans, the click-through rate would rise as far as it could. In the same way, the description lines in the “meta description” code should hold something like “make your loan application from the Akbank online branch, and let our customer representative bring the money to you.”
- The theory of latent learning
At certain times, learning takes place without any aim and without the person being aware of it. Individuals can learn a good deal of information without being aware of it, for reasons such as selectivity in perception, a lack of motivation or a break in attention. In the process of latent learning, the claim is that the individual develops a cognitive map. - Latent semantic indexing
Latent semantic indexing (LSI) is an indexing and retrieval method that uses a mathematical technique called singular value decomposition (SVD) to identify patterns in the relationships between the terms and concepts contained in an unstructured collection of text. LSI is based on the principle that words that are used in the same contexts tend to have similar meanings. A key feature of LSI is its ability to extract the conceptual content of a body of text by establishing associations between those terms that occur in similar contexts.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latent_semantic_indexing
