Multilingual Website Design
If you sell abroad, your site has to speak the language of each country and speak to its readers. We build multilingual sites, and we have hands-on experience in the German and US markets.
TR / EN / DEhreflangMarket-first copyA Multilingual Site Isn't a Translation Job
Translating the copy and adding a language switcher isn't enough to reach customers abroad. A German reader expects a different tone, an American reader a different set of references, and a word-for-word translation feels foreign to both.
We rewrite each language for its own market. On the search side, every language lives at its own URL, and Google learns which page to show in which country from hreflang tags.
What Comes With a Multilingual Site
- Its own URL for each languageSeparate addresses with a language prefix (/en, /de), so each page is indexed in its own language.
- hreflang and x-defaultGoogle knows which language goes to which country, so nobody sees the wrong one.
- Localized URLsThe address itself is written in the page's language; a German page has a German URL.
- Copy written for the marketRewritten, not translated: tone, units and examples are chosen for each market.
- Structured data in every languageOrganization, service and FAQ schema are set up separately for each language.
- Contact details by marketPhone numbers, addresses and legal pages match the reader's country.
In the German and US Markets
Germany
We write German content for the German market and support clients through a German-language line.
United States
We write English content for American readers, following American spelling and usage.
Our Own Site
turksem.com runs in three languages; every rule we recommend, we apply to our own site first.
A Translated Site vs. One Written for Its Market
- CopySentences are translated word for word, and readers feel it.
- URLsEvery language shares one URL behind a switcher.
- SearchGoogle can't tell which language to show to whom.
- TrustPhone numbers and legal pages only fit the home market.
- CopyEach language is rewritten for the readers of that market.
- URLsEach language has its own address, with localized URLs.
- Searchhreflang and x-default are in place; the right language reaches the right country.
- TrustContact details and legal pages match the reader's country.

Multilingual Website FAQ
Isn't Translation Enough for a Multilingual Site?
No. Even a grammatically correct word-for-word translation feels foreign; a German reader expects a different tone and an American reader different references. That's why we rewrite each language from the same facts, for its own market.
What Is hreflang and Why Does It Matter?
hreflang is the tag that tells Google which language and country a page is for. Without it, Google may show a German visitor the Turkish page. We set up the language alternates and the default version (x-default) on every page.
Which Languages Do You Work In?
We write Turkish, English and German content ourselves, and we have experience in the German and US markets. Our own site, turksem.com, is live in all three.
Can You Add a Language to My Current Site?
In most cases, yes. We first check whether the site's setup supports language-specific URLs and hreflang. If it doesn't, we say so plainly and lay out the best route in the quote.
