In a world this full of information and advertising, catching your audience’s attention is harder than it has ever been. Someone living in Turkey sees thousands of ads in a single day, and we have to cut through all of them and stay in the memory. Akademiklink (Prof. Dr. Behçet Yalın Özkara) went to the trouble of counting them, though we should say the real figure runs a little above the one he gives. Cutting through that volume with striking, motivating phrasing can be the difference between connecting with a potential customer and losing them.
In this piece we will share how to work that craft properly in digital marketing campaigns, blog posts and social media.
This piece on our Türk SEM Academy pages was written under the “writer guidelines”.
Why Does Striking Phrasing Matter?
Motivating words can be the starting point in a great many situations: moving customers to act, motivating employees, or carrying your values across to a particular audience. The key to your copy standing out is hidden in that phrasing.
Positive, motivating phrases do more than catch attention; they build trust and credibility.
- Immediate emotional effect: the right words connect with the reader and create an emotional bond that builds trust.
- Clarity and simplicity: they use concise language that is easy to understand and easy to remember.
- Versatility: they fit every context, from personal messages to marketing campaigns.
- Higher conversion: striking phrases used in Google Ads campaigns can lift your return on ad spend (ROAS) considerably.
An example: an e-commerce site pushes people toward buying with “turn your dreams into reality today”, while a marketing agency should reach for something like “with us, every idea turns into success”.
Tips for Using Striking Phrases
Know Your Audience
A sentence lands or fails depending on who you are addressing. Knowing your reader means understanding their needs, their worries and what drives them. Understand that, and you can reach them.

An example: a training organization working in personal development might use short motivating lines for its own audience, such as “every step forward counts”, while for a corporate audience something like “success is not chance, it is strategy” may land harder.
Use the APP (Agree, Promise, Preview) Method
This method means finding common ground with the reader, promising something valuable, and giving them a preview of what they get if they keep reading. I associate it closely with a topic from educational sciences I studied at the Ereğli Faculty of Education, Bülent Ecevit University. Signaling the objective generally gets otherwise passive recipients paying more attention to the subject.
- Agree: establish common ground. Example: “We know you want to grow.”
- Promise: make an appealing promise. Example: “Our strategies will make your business stand out.”
- Preview: preview the content. Example: “Learn how our 3 core strategies will carry your company to success.”
Use the Imperative
The imperative carries action and urgency. It helps readers know exactly what you expect of them.
An example: instead of “being productive is important”, write “take action and find out what you are capable of”.
Keep It Short and Clear
Short motivating lines are easier to remember and, through their emotional weight, leave a deeper memory trace. Cut the unnecessary detail and focus on the main message.
An example:
- The long version: “Because our time is so valuable, you ought to start making decisions.”
- The short version: “Decide today; time is valuable.”
Where Should You Use Striking Phrases?
- In headings and subheadings
The heading is the first thing a reader sees. A motivating line can turn an ordinary reader into a loyal one. - In email
An email carrying a line like “time to reach your goals” can lift open rates and conversions. - In social media posts
Platforms like Instagram get real value out of short motivating lines with visual and emotional weight.
SEO and Striking Phrases: How Are They Connected?
Striking phrases inspire, and they can also improve where your content ranks. How?
- They lift the click-through rate: striking phrases in headings raise your CTR.
- They keep people on the site longer: content with some excitement in it holds the reader.
- They bring people back: the next time they see your site in a search, they return to it.
- They encourage sharing: positive, motivating lines get shared easily, which widens the reach of the content.
