This piece is written as a companion to the subject of SEO for lawyers. A lawyer we work with had reservations about it, so we will set out the rules you have to follow and why you should have a YouTube channel all the same.
A lawyer can open a YouTube channel and produce video content.
The distinction that matters here is the content of the videos you will produce. To begin with, lawyers in Turkey face a strict ban on advertising. Before you start building a presence on YouTube you should read the Bar Association’s Regulation on the Advertising Ban carefully.
Producing your videos on the basis of that regulation has to be one of your founding principles.
The second matter is the honor of the legal profession. Reading the Union of Turkish Bar Associations professional rules carefully is the second thing to watch when you are building your content.
Why You Should Have a Digital Presence as a Lawyer
There are more than 150,000 lawyers, and thousands of new ones join your ranks every year. That makes each slice of the pie smaller and creates a real need to reach an audience. The foundation of your digital identity is a successful lawyer’s website.
A good site is the foundation of everything and the most important part of your digital identity. YouTube and your other social media presences add value to your website and matter a great deal for reaching new clients.
YouTube for Lawyers
Looking at search intent matters a great deal when you shape the script for a video on the title you have chosen. Search intent should not be thought of as something that concerns the web alone; it is a foundation you should use across your whole digital presence. If you have set a title such as “How long do divorce proceedings take?” and you are going to make a video on it, you have to be able to give the person the timeframe they came for. If it helps, split the subject into three separate parts and give a separate timeframe for each case.
Add your video with a striking image and a secondary title.
Remember that the blog on your website, the content on your YouTube channel and your social media accounts have to move together. All of your other digital assets should support your website. Your YouTube content should link to the relevant content on your site, and in the same way every one of these components should carry links back to your website.
What About Video Quality?
Do not forget that for a company the most important thing is brand identity. For a lawyer, the most important thing is your own name. There has to be a bearing, a diction and a way of speaking that leaves a positive impression, and alongside that the quality of your video matters a great deal. You should use professional filming techniques and put it out after a proper editing process.
YouTube SEO is on our list. We will prepare a detailed guide on it shortly and add it to the site. Once it is added, we will make the necessary revisions in this section.

Writing the Video Script
Remember that you need to take an information-led approach.
Opening (hook):
- Start with a sentence that catches the viewer’s attention and puts their question into words.
- Summarize briefly which subject the video will handle.
- State how you will explain the idea you raised in your title and what someone watching the video will learn.
- Give a short disclaimer noting that this is not legal advice (optionally, you can also do this at the end).
- Middle (developing the content):
- Explain the subject in points or under subheadings.
- Explain complex legal terms in plain, understandable language.
- Make the subject concrete by giving examples (through general scenarios, without real people or case details).
- Take care to use flowing language, and do not let your sentences run long.
- Check your information against current legislation and court rulings.
- Conclusion:
- Summarize the main message briefly.
- Encourage the viewer to like the video and subscribe to the channel (but do this without the aim of winning work, purely on the basis of appreciating the content).
- Point them passively towards your website, your related blog articles or your other social media accounts (for example, “you can visit our website for more information”).
- Repeat the legal advice disclaimer.
We wish you well on your digital journey.
