Frequently asked questions

What does Google truncate on: characters or pixels?

Pixel width. Google cuts the title at roughly 600 pixels and the description at about 960 pixels on desktop and 680 on mobile. Wide letters (m, w, capitals) take up more room, which is why this tool measures real pixels rather than characters.

What is the ideal title and description length?

30 to 60 characters for the title (≤600px) and 120 to 160 characters for the meta description (≤960px on desktop). This tool shows both in characters and pixels live, and simulates truncation with an ellipsis.

Why do mobile and desktop look different?

Google removed the breadcrumb from mobile results in 2025; on mobile you see only the site name, favicon and domain, while desktop keeps the domain › breadcrumb structure. The description pixel limit is also tighter on mobile. The tool simulates both correctly.

Why does the keyword appear in bold?

Google bolds the terms that match the user's query. When you type into the keyword field, the matching words are bolded in the preview, which gives you the real SERP appearance.
