SEO is not a discipline that asks only for a body of technical knowledge. The most demanding part of the work is really the process of managing your own mind and holding on to psychological resilience. It is even more critical for the people who know the right steps, because we know that taking all the right steps out of order, or with the wrong timing, is one of the biggest mistakes there is.

Do the Classic SEO Approaches Still Work?

Absolutely yes. Google is not giving up on its basic principles of trustworthiness. Its algorithms keep developing, but elements such as the technical foundation of sites, their trustworthiness and the user experience always sit among the highest priorities. That is why we too carry on using Google as the search engine that serves the most accurate results. In the future, far more powerful AI may change that, but this is today's reality.

The Power of Approaches Off the Beaten Track

In 2005 there were periods when I tried approaches off the beaten track, outside the standard methods, on 10 of my 50 sites. That experimental work sometimes made the sites extraordinarily popular and left the servers unable to carry the traffic coming in. The experience showed me this: stepping outside the memorized rules is always risky, but with the right analysis and some courage it can produce incredible results.

The SEO Specialist Has to Become a User Experience Specialist

The experience I have gathered since 1999 taught me that an SEO specialist must not focus on algorithms alone. Getting involved on the visual and user experience side of the work has become something you cannot do without. The rise of mobile users in particular, above 80%, and the need to take account of the sight problems of users over 50, oblige us to dwell on more readable fonts and site designs that are easier to follow. SEO, search engine optimization, is in the end a discipline that serves people.

Managing the Mind and Coping with Stress

SEO work involves projects that carry a high level of stress by their nature. Algorithms changing constantly, competition rising, and meeting something unknown at every step all ask for psychological resilience. The most important element underneath successful SEO work is stress management and control of the mind. As the stress coefficient rises, managing your mind can unfortunately become impossible. The people who can strike that balance are the ones who catch lasting success in the digital world.
