While researching academic papers on SEO and digital marketing we recently came across a piece of work. Our data source for it has been confirmed by the American Marketing Association as well. The striking figures I reached in those academic papers can be listed as follows.

  • 67,000 users run a Google search every second.

In my research we can state that 67,000 people worldwide are trying to reach a search on Google every second. The figure here, of course, does not include the other search engines.

  • 93% of online research begins with a search engine query.

People are said to begin their online research or their browsing through Google at the extremely high rate of 93%.

  • 80% of searchers pay no attention to the paid ads in the search results.

This is the answer to our heading. 8 people out of 10 skip the Google ads and go on to the organic results. In other words the gains from the organic results are 4 times higher than from the ads.

Google Ads 1 unit
Organic Results 4 units

This figure comes from the American Marketing Association at ama.org, according to the 2022 statistics.

  • 58% of search engine searches come from mobile devices.

In 2022, 58% of the queries run on search engines take place on mobile.

  • 46% of Google searches are local and geographically focused.

In Türk SEM SEO work our starting point in project management runs from the local to the national, and from the specific to the general. Here we see a local weighting in the search results as enormous as 46%.

  • 39% of global traffic to e-commerce sites comes from search engines.

On lower priced products, social media (Instagram) matters a great deal in e-commerce. But if a user is about to buy a product by paying a substantial sum, they research that product carefully through Google.
